Mireia Clua and her violin: sounds from both sides of the ocean
Andorran violinist Mireia Clua performed a concert this Saturday as part of “Celebremos Iberoamérica Festival” (CIB Fest), which she presented as a musical journey with her electric violin, through sensations and rhythmic influences (such as jazz, Latin, pop, funk and others) that herald her compositions and that she renews with spontaneous variations in each one of her performances.
The auditorium of the “Museo de América” was the scenario of this artists’ presentation, who has brought her music to the Madrid audience in a pedagogical way, by explaining how she creates her music and the technical resources that she uses (looper pedal), but she also remembered her beginnings and what inspired her compositions.
In an intimate atmosphere and close to the public, Clua started the concert with the song “Preludi vermell”, to give way to melodies like “Neu nova”, inspired by every first snowfall in Andorra; “Petits Brots”, “Parets de Llum”, a song to reflect on the relationship we have with screens and technology, or “Pànic Escènic”, one of the most popular songs in her repertoire.
She also performed songs such as “El futur de les roques”; “La trama dels corbs”, songs dedicated to loved ones like “El motiu de la Veronica” and “Sara”, memories from her teenage years with the song “Sense conneció”, or “Misterio caribeño” that shows influences from others musical genres.
Clua has lived in Nicaragua, Dominican Republic and has made numerous trips to Latin American countries to support artistic and solidarity projects. These influences are reflected in her notes, which fills her music with syncretism, perfectly combining the modern and the classical, as well as the sounds on both sides of the ocean.
The Andorran violinist, who also participated in the press conference for the presentation of CIB Fest on September 13 at Madrid’s City Hall, took the opportunity to thank the organizers for inviting her to participate in the festival, which ends this Sunday, and commemorates the 70º anniversary of the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI).
